More than 475 applicants have applied to take the February 2011 Ohio Bar Examination, the Supreme Court of Ohio announced today.
The February 2011 Ohio Bar Exam will be administered Feb. 22 through Feb. 24 in Columbus. Nov. 1, 2010 was the deadline for filing applications to take the first bar exam in 2011. Of the two annual bar exams, fewer attorney hopefuls take the February exam than the exam in July.
Of the February applicants, 425 Ohioans from 46 counties applied to take the exam with Cuyahoga County leading the way with 96 applicants. Fifty-three out-of-state applicants from 27 different states and the District of Columbia have applied to take the exam.
The bar exam is administered by the Supreme Court, which regulates the practice of law in Ohio, including the admission of new attorneys, the biennial registration of current attorneys, attorney discipline in cases of misconduct, and the administration of continuing legal education.
Twice a year, the Court publishes in the Ohio Official Reports Advance Sheets a list of the names, cities, and counties or states of residence of those persons who have applied for admission to the practice of law in Ohio. The Court also distributes copies of the list to all regional and local bar association admissions committees.
