Judge Kimbler Finds Montville Township Man Guilty of Two Sex Offenses

Following a two day non-jury trial, Judge Kimbler announced that he had found Edward B. Violett, 63, of Paradise Road in Montville Township, guilty of two counts of Gross Sexual Imposition, both third degree felonies. Following the announcement of his verdict, Judge Kimbler ordered a pre-sentence investigation; revoked Mr. Violett's bond; and remanded him back to the Medina County Jail. Judge Kimbler also announced that he will impose sentence on September 29, 2011 at 8:30 am.

Mr. Violett was charged with having unlawful sexual contact with the 10 year old granddaughter of a woman who lives with him. The offenses took place in December of 2009 and May of 2010 while the child was staying overnight at the home her grandmother shares with Mr. Violett.

Gross Sexual Imposition is a third degree felony. Under current law it is punishable by a prison sentence of one to five years, in one year increments. Because of this conviction, Mr. Violett will be subject to reporting requirements under Ohio law.
